    Goldcar finally agreed that the customer was right (I was right). So they decided to pay me back my "taken money" (~150-200 Eur), offering some apologies for the inconvinience of the situation.

    When we arrived at the office the attendant requested I write my details including home address on a piece of paper. This was subsequently used to process my credit card payment of €1,200 for the damage waiver. I used my Barclaycard Commercial credit card which was declined as the attendant had used my home address not company address. However I only found this out later from Barclaycard customer service. Prior to this I had requested he try again as I knew the card had a £2,000 limit and I hire cars every year using this method.I was not using my pin number for this operation and he sighed making a comment of "Que coñazo de gente" to his female colleague because he had to type in the full card number. Again, the card was declined. He told me to move aside, take my things away from the desk as he was far too busy and needed to attend other customers. There was nobody else in the office! He also wrote on a piece of paper that we had one "last attempt" at successful payment!!! I called Barclaycard and they explained that the address used was incorrect. I explained to him that he had used my home address as the registered address for the credit card but that this was registered with my company address. He was very reluctant to change it and said he had never heard of 'anything like this before' and had never had 'such an awkward customer as I'. I phoned up Barclaycard again and asked customer service to speak to him explaining the issue was the address. He briefly listened to them and told them he had already wasted far too much time on me and simply passed then phone back. After he had input the business address he repeated.... "This is your last chance!" I requested he show me the address he had input and he refused. When I protested his female colleague told us "Get out of our office!" My attendant also accused me of getting behind his desk without permission and that looking at the screen was strictly 'prohibited'! When he finally agreed to show me the screen, the address was completely incorrect. He had written the letter M instead of number 17. He told me I was writing the numbers down wrong as I had not put a European dash through the 7. He also wrote a zero instead of 'O' and a '9' instead of the letter 'P'. When I finally edited the address it still did not go through for reasons I will never know, but not those due to the card. Then the atmosphere got really horrible and they were both shouting "get out get out!" In the end I paid with an alternative debit card (not credit) which I thought I could not use and was my least preferred method of payment for security reasons.

    Terrible service, tried to charge me for damages that were clearly marked as present when I obtained the vehicle. Cheap rates, but you will pay more in the end. Stay away.

    In reviewing the situation yesterday I can only conclude that these employees were determined not to let us have the vehicle or assist in any way in our making payment. They were rude, aggressive and set out to make our experience a misery from the outset. In addition to this the vehicle had 16 more instances of damage than recorded on the document we signed and, only thanks to Carmello, were these identified and recorded. This is an untrustworthy and abhorrent company.

    Our experience of renting a car yesterday from Bilbao (Holiday Inn Express) was an example of the worst customer care I have EVER come across. I left with my hands shaking in rage and disbelief as to our treatment and am still extremely angry and upset. I am dreading taking the vehicle back to the office when the rental term expires on 31st August.

    I shall be writing to the company headquarters and also to Pepecar who were the acting agent. I will also be placing this review on other sites and making a formal complaint in writing to the Basque Government office of consumer protection (KontsumoBIDE).

    All in all, the only saviour of this situation was Carmello, an employee who apologised to us in the car park. He sympathised with how we had been treated. We are however expecting more issues upon our return.

    Victoria, there were no new damages. Your office continues to try to charge me for damages that were clearly marked when I received the car. I have tried to use all forms of customer service, but no one has been helpful and many at the office have been downright rude.

    Goldcar moment: Feeling tricked with deposits, fees and unclear explanations, put off with some stupid family coach instead of the actually booked and hoped for little runabout and finally moving that car reluctantly off the parking, thinking that this trip was the most idiot idea we ever had… Buying cheap is an illusion. Never again! Thank you for that insight!

    1h20 min wait to pick up the car (I arrived on time) but this was not credited to the time when I needed to return the car. I didn't have $2500 clear on my credit card (never had that be an issue before) so I was charged $90/day extra. Car was beaten up.

    HEREBY I complaint against this unprofessional shity company, due to their continuous stealing money to their customers. Basically they charged me costs of 221 Eur (without my approval) for some millimetres (see photo) scratches which already where identified-agreed and signed at the beginning of the contract (which is stated on paper).. and even so these losers have charged me for it... it is unbelievable. DO NOT book with this company, you will pay double in the end. They are professional thiefs. My contract 29 june 2017: 11754958
